Dudhwa National Park

Dudhwa National Park is a protected wildlife reserve located in the state of Uttar Pradesh, India. It is situated in the Terai region near the Indo-Nepal border. Established in 1977, Dudhwa National Park covers an area of approximately 490 square kilometers (190 square miles) and is part of the larger Dudhwa Tiger Reserve, which spans around 1,284 square kilometers (496 square miles).

 

The park is known for its diverse flora and fauna, including several endangered species. It is primarily made up of dense forests, grasslands, and wetlands, creating a unique ecosystem that supports a wide range of wildlife.

One of the prominent attractions of Dudhwa National Park is its population of Royal Bengal Tigers. The park is home to a significant number of tigers, and conservation efforts have been implemented to protect and preserve this majestic species. Other large mammals found in the park include Indian rhinoceros, swamp deer (also known as barasingha), Indian elephants, and leopards.

Dudhwa National Park is also a paradise for birdwatchers, with over 400 bird species recorded within its boundaries. Some notable bird species found in the park include the Bengal florican, great hornbill, painted stork, and white-rumped vulture.
